The big move!

This year I am making the jump from Second grade to Third.  The move inspired me to rethink how I wanted to organize my classroom, colors I wanted to use, and how I wanted to implement our curriculum.  Most of my ideas originate from Pintrest and I tweak them to fit my needs.

First up is my "Reading Focus Wall."  Girly, I know, but I have used other more neutral colors throughout the room so I am indulging myself a little here!  Oh well, a happy teacher = happy students, right?

I have to admit this bulletin board is as much for my benefit as is for my students.  I feel like it will help keep me grounded in what topics/skills I need to drive home each week.

Since I have taken this photo I have added the pieces to correlate with our story.  We use the Illinois version of Treasures by Macmillan/McGraw-Hill,.  I'll post the updated pic soon!

My Math Focus Wall is accented in blue, there see, I haven't left out my boys!

We will be using Go Math! this year by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.  Each chapter uses a different type of graphic organizer to introduce vocabulary.  My goal is to use the same graphic organizer on the bulletin board as in our book to introduce and display the vocabulary in each chapter.

Next up is my CAFE bulletin board.

I used Printshop to create the headings.  I will use sticky notes with student's names on the CAFE letters underneath the bulletin board to group my students. If you don't know about Daily 5 and CAFE you should check into it.  It is not a reading curriculum, rather, a structure for your reading block.  Here is a link to their website: http://www.the2sisters.com.

Well that's it for now.  I have a very full plate today.  I'll get more up soon, thanks for stopping by!
